Email/account is already in use
If you are receiving the error below when trying to create an account then this article is for you:
"Email/account is already in use. Please use the 'Recover Profile' option if you forgot your password."
You may consider creating an email account with a free email service (e.g. gmail or hotmail), and then that account (e.g. gmail account) to your myAdventist profile, see Google login for MyAdventist
Steps below:
- Browse https://myadventist.org. You will be directed to the login page. Click New Profile
- On the New Profile page, click the New Password Account option just below Staff Account then click Password
- Enter your name and email address with the +myadventist before the @ sign.
- You will then receive a notification email from noreply@adventist.org.au. Click the Set My Password link
- Set password
- You should now be able to login using the Password login option.
Note: If your reason to do this is because your email address is no longer supported by your previous login provider, contact servicedesk@adventist.org.au and request that your previous account be merged with the newly created profile.
Understanding the +MyAdventist
The + has a very useful meaning for only Gmail's email service, as the characters after it are ignored
ie, Email+myadventist@gmail.com and Email@gmail.com are treated as the same email address
As the +myadventist part of the email address is ignored by Gmail.
