New Tax Category

Follow these steps to create a new tax category.

  1. Go to the Admin menu, select Tax Categories.

  2. Click the New button.

  3. Select the Country that the tax category applies to.

  4. Enter the Tax Code.

  5. Enter a Display Name.

  6. Select the Classification. 

    1. None - the tax category can be used in any entry screen

    2. Payable - the tax category can only be used in Expense Entry, Express Payment Entry and Journal Entry (not Receipt Entry)

    3. Receivable - the tax category can only be used in Receipt Entry and Journal Entry (not Expense Entry or Express Payment Entry)

  7. If you are wanting the tax category to be visible for use, check the 'Active' box. 

  8. Click on the New link and enter the desired rate and effective date you wish to have for this tax category. 

  9. Click Save.
